DATA PROTECTION

To comply with the new General Data Protection Regulations, we have prepared a Data Protection Policy. This document is available on request. Please contact our church secretary for further details.

 

The document shown below is our Privacy Notice which explains how we collect, store and process the information that our members and wider congregation have given to us. Printed copies of this are available in church.

 

PRIVACY NOTICE

Radford Semele Baptist Church is committed to protecting your        privacy and promises to respect your personal information and to do all we can to keep it safe.

We aim to be clear about how we obtain your details and only process them in ways we believe you would reasonably expect. This includes not sharing personal details with third parties for the purposes of their marketing.

We always aim to communicate with you respectfully, effectively and efficiently. Our forms give clear choices and we include information on how to change your communication preferences whenever we contact you. This helps the church to send you news of our activities etc only if you have explicitly stated you are happy for us to do so in ways that are most convenient to you (email, text, telephone, post)

We only collect information in the following ways:

When you give it to us DIRECTLY including:

· When you contact RSBC to complete a Gift Aid form or complete a form to include (or amend) your details as they appear in our Church Directory or when you contact us through our Facebook page (social media).

We will not obtain and store personal information that is publicly available on social media (Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter etc) or other publicly available sources such as Companies House, Linkedin, The Charity Commission etc).

 

Our website does not use ‘cookies’. ‘Cookies’ are small text files that sites transfer to your device (PC, laptop, phone, tablet etc) to make interacting with a website faster and easier.

 

 

What personal information we might collect from you

· Your name and contact details, including postal address, email, telephone number(s)

· Your date of birth. We may also include the date you were admitted into church membership or baptised (where applicable)

· Bank account details (account number & sort code) if you make regular donations by direct debit or standing order (we do not store debit or credit card details)

· Your Gift Aid status

How do we use this information?

The information we gather helps us to keep you informed about church activities. Your contact details (name, address, telephone numbers, email etc) will only be published in our Church Directory if you have given your express permission for it to be included.

The Church Directory is only distributed to members of the church and and regular attenders. The information contained will not be shared outside of the church community without permission from each individual.

If your details include an email address, you will be sent information regularly via this means and less frequently by text message (SMS).

Legitimate interest for existing members & friends of RSBC

We will continue to use the information you gave us when our Church Directory was created unless you specifically ask us to delete (or amend) any of this information. We will check annually that the information we hold is up to date.

Opting out You can change or stop what you receive from us by following the instructions at the bottom of any postal or email communications you receive from us. Or you can contact us by telephone.

 

Protecting your personal information

The security of your information is very important. We ensure that  appropriate controls and procedures are in place to protect your         personal information.  Your information is stored on password protected computers with back up copies stored on Microsoft’s secure cloud storage facility within the EEA (European Economic Area)

However, despite our best efforts to store your information safely and securely, the information you give us is done so at your own risk. We undertake regular reviews of who has access to information we hold to ensure that your details are only accessible by appropriate and authorised members of the church’s leadership and administration (e.g. Secretary, Treasurer, Minister)

We will only ever share your data if we have your explicit, informed and unambiguous consent or where there is a legal requirement to do so.

Keeping your information up to date

We would really appreciate it if you could let us know if your contact or personal details change as this gives us consent to use the updated information and continue to communicate with you.

How long we will keep your information for:

We will hold your personal information on our systems for as long as is necessary to carry out the activity relevant to your interaction with us.

We will keep a record of any donations you have made for at least  seven years.

Right of access

You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you.  You can put your request in writing to our Church Secretary at rmalin@aol.com
